What kind of media I like…

Music:

My music taste changes very easily, creating extremely varied playlists ranging from rap to acoustic or even top hits. At the moment one of the artists I listen to most would probably be Jamie T.

Film:

My favourite films are usually American, modern horror stories, for example Sinister, or action comedies.

How did the Artic Monkeys release the fastest and biggest selling first album ever using the internet?

By this generation, the teenagers had no other way of living than using their computers. It created a new way of accessing information quickly. But not only information, it was the first time that you could hear music without buying the CD. The up and coming band at the time, the Arctic Monkeys, used this as an advantage. They managed to put out their songs onto different websites so people would easily have access to them. In turn, this created a virtual fan base which continued to grow. This meant that when they did release their CD there was great anticipation putting them against the successful bands at the time already, for example, Coldplay. As it received a lot of attention by fans, more and more people heard about them, aiding them to go viral.  The power that the forums were creating was unheard of at the time.

Who owns the film industry?

It is hard to say which country is making the most success out of the film industry although it is between India and the United States. India is know for its Bollywood films and creates more films annually then any other country although the audience is limited as there is less screening in India than the U.S. as it has the largest number of screens in the world.

Indian films are very popular and are known to be the seventh largest in terms of revenue. Around 20% of Indian films come from Mumbai, know as Bollywood. These types of films are becoming more popular through out European countries. The first film shown in India was ‘The Wrqestlers’ in 1899 of a man called Harischandra Sakharam Bhatavdekar.

One of the most famous companies in the film industry I would say is News Corporations, 20th Century Fox; the largest producers and distributors of motion picture in the world. This is an American company that was founded in 1935 (80 years ago) by Joseph M Schenck and Darryl F Zanuck. One of the main things this company is known for is their logo and introduction to every film they produce, this spotlight logo was created in 2013 and is known worldwide. I would say that the themes of the films which 20th Century Fox produce are fairly varied, for example, X-Men, Home Alone, Star Wars, Avatar and Ice Age.

Another globally known company would be The Walt Disney Company, which was founded in 1923 by Walt Disney and Roy O Disney. The main audience this company reaches out to is the younger generations, famous for creating many animated films, for example, Cinderella, Tarzan, Aladdin, The Lion King, Dumbo, Bambi and Peter Pan.
